Ameriwall™ Window Kit Installation Instructions
|
The window frame should be flush with the sheetrock or other wallboard material and have a minimum sill and side depth of 2".
A window kit consists of a sill piece (sized from 16" to 48" wide) and a single 48" side piece. The side piece is designed to be cut into two pieces and cover the sides of the window frame. If the top of the window frame is below the top of the AmeriWall™ enclosure, a double window kit is required.
Installation instructions:
- Trim the appropriate AmeriWall™ enclosure panel to remove all of the material that covers the window frame. The cut edges of the panel should be as close to the outer edges of the window frame as possible.
- Install the AmeriWall™ enclosure walls per our AmeriWall™ Installation Instructions, but do not apply the final caulk lines until the window kit is completely installed.
- Trim the back edge of the sill to tightly fit the width and depth of the window frame. The front bull nose edge of the sill piece is designed to overlap the right and left side of the window frame. Do not remove or modify the front leading bull nose edge of the sill or side panels.
- Glue the window kit sill piece in place using the same adhesive used for the AmeriWall™ installation.
- Cut the 48" side piece in two, resulting in a piece for the both left and right sides. Trim the two side pieces to the correct height and width of the window frame.
- Glue each side piece in place tight and flush against the sill and sides of the window frame. The front bull nose edge should completely cover the open AmeriWall™ panel.
- Apply the final caulk lines to the walls and window kit.
